Principal Responsibility
The Free Clothing Program (FCP) provides new and gently-used clothing to men, women, and children, at no cost. Through our regular services, we facilitate a shopping experience for guests in our boutique-style store. Guests can choose from our selection of casual wear, professional attire, warm weather clothes, and as available, linens, bags, hygiene products, and other accessories. As the Volunteer & Processing Lead you are responsible for the development, coordination, and supervision of FCP’s volunteer program. In the spirit of our Franciscan values and heritage, our team provides compassion and care daily. As a steward of healing and social justice, you are expected to meet the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination and Engagement
- Lead FCP volunteer and internship programs, including screening, training, placement, supervision, scheduling, and exiting of volunteers.
- Maintain accurate volunteer data records, including shift schedules, hours served, and volunteer contact information.
- Implement and evaluates volunteer policies and procedures.
- Provide timely feedback to volunteers on volunteer activities.
- Responsible for providing a high-guality volunteer experience and create opportunities for long-term volunteer engagement.
- Treat all guests with empathy, dignity, and respect. Seek to understand the other person’s perspective and experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively across cultures and an openness to learning about cultures not familiar to oneself.
- Represent Anthony’s mission and values to volunteers, prospective volunteers, and other external audiences; confidently communicates St. Anthony’s identity as a Catholic and Franciscan organization.
Program Administration
- Coordinate donation processing activites with volunteers and staff.
- Assist with processing improvements and special projects.
- Monitor ongoing donation processing activities with an eye for quality control, efficiency, product quantities, and other conditions.
- Help facilitate and maintain a safe environment for FCP volunteers, staff, and guests. Adheres to the guidelines of the St. Anthony Foundation Safety Program.
- Complete reports and all other paperwork neatly, legibly, and thoroughly.
- Enter data and information electronically as required. Looks up data and reports electronically through a database as requested.
- Understand and follow the organization’s programs, policies, and procedures
- Participate in regular training and development opportunities to increase personal capacity to apply innovative approaches to daily workflows, service delivery, and employee engagement.
Teamwork
- Work closely with St. Anthony’s Volunteer Service department on all matters related to FCP’s volunteer program, including recruitment, scheduling, and overall alignment with St. Anthony’s mission and values.
- Assist and work with all members of the Free Clothing Program in responding to the responsibilities and needs of the program.
- Participate in relevant meetings supporting team communication and the program’s capacity to fulfill organizational goals and mission.
- Collaboratively works with others to achieve team success.

Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of experience managing and engaging volunteers.
- BA or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to lift/move up to 30 pounds.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to be polite, diplomatic, and firm. Can set limits and practice professional boundaries with guests, volunteers, donors, and coworkers.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a self-composed and self-assured manner.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours and days (weekends and holidays required).
- Ability to complete paperwork neatly and legibly.
- Ability or willingness to learn to use information and communication technologies (computers, smartphones, and iPads) to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information.
- Ability to be punctual, reliable, cooperative, and stay team-oriented.
- Experience working in a non-profit or community-based social service agency with people experiencing homelessness or poverty desired.
- Commitment to St. Anthony Foundation Statement of Values and a desire to work for a social services agency serving the poor.
