Hamilton Butt Blitz Volunteers – A Greener Future

Volunteering

Cigarette butts are made from 12,000 plastic microfibres called cellulose acetate — which never breaks down in the environment. These micro-plastics cause harm to our drinking water sources, wildlife, and the health of ecosystems.

Join us on Saturday, June 3 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm for a city-wide Butt Blitz to tackle cigarette litter!

There will be 4 cleanup and drop-off locations:

  • Concession Street BIA – 534 Concession St, Hamilton
  • Downtown BIA – Downtown Hamilton BIA Office – Unit 104, 20 Hughson St. S., Hamilton
  • Green Venture – 122 Veevers Dr., Hamilton
  • International Village BIA – 195 Main St. E., Hamilton

Equipment needed to participate safely will be provided. If you have your own reusable gloves we encourage you to bring them to help decrease waste!

Come out to any of the clean up locations to help remove cigarette litter from the streets of Hamilton.
