The McGill University Graduate Scholarship offers seeking highly motivated MSc and PhD students to join our dynamic team in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill.
The McGill University Scholarship research focuses on power system stability, security and resilience. By integrating advanced data-driven techniques with power system domain knowledge, the research team aims to develop analytical tools and efficient algorithms to tackle pressing challenges of modern power grids. These include the integration of diverse energy sources, the vulnerability introduced by smart cyber assets, and the growing impacts of climate change.
The overarching goal is to enhance the security, stability, and resilience of modern power systems— during normal operation, under uncertainty, and in the face of extreme events.
McGill University Scholarship 2025 Requirements:
To be considered for the scholarship, you must:
- Have a bachelor’s/master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. - Deomonstrate strong mathematical background in linear algebra, differential equations,
probability and statistics, as well as power system operation, power system
stability, and/or optimization. - Be experienced with tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, DSATools, PSS/E,
RT-LAB, or PSCAD. - Prior research experience (publications or thesis work) is a plus
McGill University Graduate Scholarship Duration and Reward
The Scholarship will cover the full tuition fees of selected candidates and will further provide an annual stipend for successful candidates.
