Global Banking and Markets (GBM) is a leading Capital Markets and Investment Banking business with a growing platform in the US and Latin America, operating globally for over 100 years.

Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of capital markets, investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Overview: 

Analysts in Equity Capital Markets (ECM) enjoy a stimulating and challenging work environment in which they execute a broad range of transactions. A high degree of responsibility is afforded to those demonstrating initiative and the desire to take on such responsibility.

A significant amount of effort, diligence and initiative is required to properly execute assignments. The complexity of clients’ financial requirements coupled with the intense competitiveness of the ECM and investment banking industry necessitates a full commitment to the task at hand. Standards are very high as most work is presented to senior executives at client firms.

With a limited hierarchy of professionals and a small project team approach, Analysts have ample opportunity for career growth and development. On any given project, Analysts will interact with other departments of the firm such as Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Global Fixed Income and Global Equity Derivatives, gaining knowledge and understanding of the broader bank’s offerings, how ECM fits within it, and how various functions and groups work together to deliver the entire bank to our clients.

 

The role provides Analysts with exposure to both the origination and the syndication (execution) side of the Global ECM business, by allowing them to participate in all stages of an equity and equity-linked transaction, from the initial pitch to the corporate client, to the closing of the offering. In this role, Analysts will be involved in the origination of new equity business, including the preparation of client presentations, research and data analytical work.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Help evaluate the financial needs of corporate clients, reviewing the impact of different capital structures
  • Extensive shareholder analyses for individual companies and across broader sectors
  • Create marketing materials and presentations
  • Support transaction structuring and execution efforts

Major Activities Include:

 

  • Perform financial market data analysis on an ad hoc basis, using both internal and external sources (including Bloomberg)
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, monthly and/or quarterly updates on the markets and new issue activity (internally and externally)
  • Prepare and update client presentations, including compiling data and assembling presentation materials
  • Provide back-up to both the origination and syndication teams

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • You are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Business, Finance, or Economics
  • Previous intern experience(s) working in Investment Banking, Financial Services and/or Corporate Development preferred
  • Proven record of outstanding achievements in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interest in Equity Capital Markets
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • High level of attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work, excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines and perform effectively in a team environment
  • High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations
  • A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn
