Is this role right for you?
Contributes to the overall success of the Research team in Toronto ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s research priorities and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
During your internship you will join a dynamic team, working alongside highly trained professional analysts and portfolio managers. We are looking for someone with a related area of study (finance, portfolio management, sustainability, or accounting). Successful candidates will have a demonstrated passion for sustainable investing.
In this role, you will:
- Work with ESG Research Analysts and Associates performing ESG analysis and ad-hoc projects. Projects may include climate and/or diversity, equity & inclusion research, data organization, research on emerging ESG topics/trends, and research to support internal presentations.
- Understand how JFL’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with the firm’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if:
- Enrolled in post-secondary education or in post-graduate education (i.e. master’s degree) with a focus in sustainability, sustainable development, business administration, finance, economics or another related field
- Top grades and standing GPA are considered an asset
- Passion for ESG and sustainable investing
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Organized, with attention to detail
