Job Summary
Join the City of Saskatoon as an engineering intern, where you’ll gain hands-on experience by assisting with various municipal projects and initiatives. Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates the planning, design and construction of various municipal infrastructure projects within one of the following departments:
- Transportation
- Roadways, Fleet and Support
- Construction and Design
- Saskatoon Water (Waste Water Plant and Water Treatment Plant)
- Water and Waste operations
- Technical Services (Asset Management and Majour Projects)
- Sustainability
- Saskatoon Light and Power
- Assists with the tendering process for capital projects, including preliminary documents, construction estimates, detailed design drawing preparations, material selections and specification reviews.
- Assists with engineering analysis and related engineering field work. Communicates with contractors, other civic departments and regulatory agencies to provide contract administration and ensure compliance with Civic and Provincial regulations.
- Reviews, and provides recommendations, relating to technical specifications, construction materials and methods of construction.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Completion of a minimum three years’ university in the Engineering field, and the intention to return to school full-time following the internship to complete their undergraduate degree.
• Experience with municipal infrastructure construction projects or in plant or industrial environments would be considered an asset but is not required.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s Licence.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civic staff, civic officials, representatives of other agencies, and the public.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $56,179.56 CAD per annum (2023 rates)
