Job Summary

The Parks & Culture Planning team consists of both Planners and Landscape Architects who work together to plan parks, expand parkland, protect park assets, and comment on behalf of the Parks, Forestry & Environment Division on development applications, environmental assessments, and City realty matters.

The Landscape Architect Intern will play a key role in providing the Parks & Culture Planning team with timely and accurate support in the day-to-day operations of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Site inspections under the direction of the Landscape Architects.
  • Prepare inspection reports.
  • Pool Permit review support and tracking.
  • Park Access Permit coordination support.
  • Prepare digital presentation materials.
  • Provide graphic support for team on special projects and presentations.
  • Special project research and information gathering.
  • Complete and/or contribute to reports, special studies, and projects.
  • Assist with completing contract administration tasks and memos as necessary.
  • Assist with public engagement processes.
  • Support Parks & Culture Planning team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized Landscape Architecture program This position is intended to give third- or fourth-year students practical site and office experience that will assist in both career development and obtaining post-graduation employment in the field of Landscape Architecture
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Experience with AutoCad and/or Microstation applications.
  • Applicants must have strong organization and time management skills.
  • Applications must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.22 – 22.84
