We are looking for students in information technology, computer sciences, business technology management, or related programs currently enrolled in a co-op (or internship) degree program, available for up to 8 months starting September 2024
Only students in work experience programs will be considered

The Corporate Information Security Office (C-ISO) is looking for one student with an interest in the five pillars of the NIST framework (identify, prevent, detect, respond, and recover). The C-ISO manages both the technical and business aspects of cyber security including Security Operations, Directory Services, Identity and Access Management, Cyber Resiliency, Training and Awareness, and Governance, Risk and Compliance.

What will you do?

  • Assist in the gathering and analysis of security information
  • Create cyber security and cyber resiliency reports for stakeholders
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of training and awareness programs
  • Assist in major implementation projects
  • Support the operational teams in their daily duties
  • Create documentation supporting processes, operational procedures and specifications adhering to ISO 27002, COBIT and NIST standards
  • Interact with stakeholders on a daily basis in a fast-paced environment
  • Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an information technology, computer sciences, business technology management, or related co-op (or internship) degree program

Assets:

  • Knowledge of Cyber security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Knowledge of Assessing security risks
  • Knowledge of Securing information and technology assets
  • Knowledge of Access management
  • Knowledge of Security frameworks such as ISO 27002, COBIT, and NIST

Skills required for success:

  • Knowledge of Cyber security processes and technologies
  • Experience with Google Workspace Applications or equivalent applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple elements, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion

Work Environment:

  • This is an indoor, on-site office environment
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 

Salary: $22.918 – $26.737 (Hourly)
