JOB SUMMARY

This job is exclusively for Coop Students who are enrolled in a recognized post-secondary co-operative education program.
The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the City.
Under the direction of a Program or Section Manager in Transit Fleet & Facilities Maintenance, you provide design and engineering assistance/support to transit fleet engineers and technicians.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Enrolment in a recognized co-operative engineering program; 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student preferred.
No experience required

KNOWLEDGE

  • Vehicle systems and sub-systems
  • Analytical and research techniques
  • Computer software applications such as MS Office Suite and drafting software
  • Maintenance information management systems
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Able to conduct research, sort and categorize findings
  • Able to analyze information and draw conclusions
  • Written and verbal communication skills to write reports and present information in a clear and direct manner
  • Able to use common office computer applications including spreadsheets and Maintenance information management systems
  • Able to use drafting software such as MicroStation or SolidWorks
  • Attentive to detail
