Job Summary
This is your opportunity to make a real difference, by assisting the Environmental Services Section in their efforts to protect and enhance the environment of the City of Mississauga
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager, Environmental Site Management and Compliance
- The successful candidates will assist in the enforcement of the City’s Storm Sewer Use By-law, involving spill response, release studies, monitoring problem areas, proactive inspections and interfacing with the City’s residential and business communities.
- the successful candidates will be involved in completing the City’s Outfall Monitoring Program, an important tool in evaluating Stormwater quality across the City.
- Other duties may include:
- assisting with the review of environmental reports
- researching various environmental issues and initiatives
- liaising with other City Departments, levels of government and outside agencies
- exploring solutions and/or changes required to the City’s environmental standards and policies;
- performing other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science Program.
- Must be proficient in the use of computer software packages and in particular, be familiar with the Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and database software.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must Hold at least a valid class “G2” Ontario driver’s license, safety boots, and a good driving record.
- Good time management and organizational skills are also required.
- The successful candidates will be required to independently manage their time while being an important member of our team environment.
- These positions include both office and field based tasks and therefore the successful candidates will be comfortable and proficient in both environments.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $19.22 – $22.84
