At SMS Equipment, our Human Resources (HR) Business Partner ensures our managers and supervisors have the knowledge, tools, and support needed to manage the business from a Human Resources perspective.
This position will bring sound advice and guidance to leaders through effective partnerships.

The HR Business Partner will provide a full range of human resources client support services to our Fort McMurray branch.
This position has the opportunity to work a hybrid work arrangement up to 50% of the time. The incumbent of this position may be required to travel. Periods of high workload coinciding with regular annual HR cycles and potential involvement in collective bargaining.

Responsibilities:
# Coach and advise supervisors, managers and employees on Human Resources policies and procedures.
# Craft and recommend solutions to address challenges, or opportunities for their client group.
# Support the processes established to attract and identify talent and discuss staff needs with managers.
# Provide assistance and support in establishing performance expectations and measures.
# Provide support on performance reviews, where needed.
# Bring stakeholder feedback, to support development of better practices in the areas of talent management and strategic HR management to the organization.
# Administration of Collective Agreements and employment contracts.
# Investigate and resolve day-to-day employee/labour relations problems.
# Using business acumen, experience and data, make recommendations to improve existing policies and programs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
At SMS Equipment, our HR Business Partners typically have 2-5 years’ experience providing advisory/consultative services as a Human Resources professional

Additional qualifications include:
Outstanding organizational and follow-up skills.
CPHR designation, or working towards, would be an asset.
Previous experience with salary administration and job evaluation with Hay methodology would be preferred.
Superior computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information and issues.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet all deadlines.
Ability to work independently and in a team to accomplish goals.
