A unique opportunity exists for Registered Nurses with a keen interest to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Mount Sinai Hospital to qualify themselves for application to future full-time and part-time opportunities in the NICU as they become available. Successful candidates to this internship opportunity (up to 2 individuals) will be expected to successfully complete an in-house internship with a preceptor on the unit. The start of the internship will be in 3. The average training commitment would be the equivalent of six hours shifts nurse preceptor shadowing with basic skills utilization.
Candidates will be selected on the basis of the requirements indicated below, panel interview, and, if all else is equal, seniority.

Job Requirements
• Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• BScN (preferred)
• Current BCLS
• Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience within Women’s and Infants program, ICU, PACU or Emergency departments
• Willingness to complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 3 months of potential transfer to the NICU
• Ability to provide emotional support to patients and families
• Commitment to professional practice and personal development
• Commitment to shared leadership and team based decision making
• Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills
