As a Technical Sales Intern, also called Brand Technical Specialist intern, you will work with a sales team as a consultative sales intern advising prospective clients on the benefits of IBM’s solutions. You will be directly impacting the world’s most influential enterprises and brands on the adoption of next-generation platforms.
This is a Summer 2024 position. IBM’s comprehensive Sales Intern Program and industry-leading learning culture will prepare you with a strong foundation for client success and skills to take with you at the conclusion of the internship. Your Role and Responsibilities
This position resides in Markham, Calgary, Toronto, or Montreal and is a 4 month work term commencing in May 2024. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion.
In this role, you’ll grow skills to become a subject matter expert and collaborate with colleagues across the wider Sales team to advise and support client engagements throughout the sales process. A ‘Day-in-the Life’ of a Technical Sales intern may include, but not be limited to:
• Growing skills and knowledge in consultative sales, technical solutions, and industry applications to apply during client engagements.
• Developing approaches for clients to grow their businesses by solving strategic and tactical business problems with IBM’s proven technology solutions.
• Defining and detailing feasible IBM solutions that complement and enhance clients’ existing tech stacks.
• Delivering proof of concepts and simplifying difficult, technical topics into understandable client education.

Important note: Candidates should apply to only one of the Technology or Technical Sales Intern positions. The Technical Sales Intern requires more hands-on technical/coding experience, in addition to the consultative selling skills required for both internship roles.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Must have completed at least 2 years of a university or college degree.
• Conversant and knowledgeable about technology, trends, and its application to address business challenges.
• Experience translating business requirements into technology solutions.
• Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated team collaboration and leadership.
• Readiness to independently travel to local IBM clients and meetings – up to 10%.
• Must be eligible to work 4 months starting in May
Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise
• B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering.
• Programming coursework or experience a plus.
• Prior work experience in a technical role is an asset.
• At least 3 months experience with Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering concepts.
• Experience includes all settings, such as coursework, informal or side projects, internships and work experience, leading to a result or achievement.
• Registered in a formal co-op/internship program
