Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, you’ll find Vale’s Base Metals Technology Development team; a group of highly trained engineers and scientists working to improve Vale’s competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

 

The Opportunity

 

We are currently seeking a TMO Co-op Student to join our Operational Excellence team in Toronto. This is a 12-month fixed term position from January 2023-December 2023.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Complete a series of monthly tasks/processes such as tracking milestones, updating project/initiative information in a regularly basis

• Create/update detailed initiatives/project schedules

• Assist TMO team through all project/initiative gates and monitoring

• Complete a series of monthly tasks/processes such as tracking KPI’s, milestones, impact financials and related input

• Prepare data/analytics to provide insights into trends and patterns for strategic decision making

• Update detailed project schedules

 

About YouEducation

• Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on business administration, project management, engineering, or in a master’s program in related field

 

Experience And Skills

• Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Experience or understanding of data visualization tools (Power BI preferable or Tableau)

• Strong knowledge of Power BI dashboards and similar tools.

• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)

• Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to understand and communicate business value.

• Excellent critical thinking, time management and leadership skills.

• Experience creating process documents

 

Other knowledge and skills, not required but are an asset :

• Prior experience in data integration of disparate data sources

• Understanding on Six Sigma preferred or other lean manufacturing tools, Project Management/Agile courses, selection, definition, standardization, and monitoring

• Understanding about Production Systems (TPS, VPS, Lean, Asset Management, etc.)

• Collaboration and strong relationship building skills

• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written) especially in a diverse culture environment and multiple levels of management

• Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge

• Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
