GRM, Data and IT Strategy Intern

Job Description
• What will you do?
• Support the implementation of the IT and Data framework, which is one of the key strategic 2024 priorities
• Collect data and IT artifacts from all facets of GRM, allowing student to engage and present findings to key stakeholders throughout GRM
• Build a solid understanding on GRM’s IT Architecture and Data Management landscape and practices, identify areas for improvements and implement change
• Gain extensive experience in data management, business analysis, agile delivery, etc.
• Work closely with all risk areas in GRM, RBC Finance, Data Management Office and Technology teams, thereby engaging with different stakeholders, gaining exposure to various ways of work and building their network.
• Support key historical data and testing components of project Emerald imperative for the merger to be successful
• What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
• Academic focus in business, finance, statistics, mathematics, or a quantitative discipline
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to think outside the box
• Strong written & verbal communication skills
• Expert in MS Office, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
• Willingness to learn and appetite for challenges
• Nice-to-have
• Knowledge or experience of Risk Management and Credit Products
• Familiarity with programming languages in SQL, Python, R, SAS, or Tableau
• Minimum B+ GPA

Please note: This posting is for a 4-months Winter 2024 Student placement with a start date of January 2024, and end date of April 2024. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:
• Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April 2024 ; or
• If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April 2024), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

Job Summary

What is the opportunity?
This is a rewarding opportunity to join the IT and Data Strategy team within the COO Office of Group Risk Management (GRM). This team supports the optimization of GRM Total Cost of Ownership of
IT infrastructure, the maturity of GRM data management practices and is a key management team within Project Emerald that connects business and IT stakeholders for important integration work. Over the internship period, the student will have the opportunity to work in different areas of the team, such as supporting the implementation of the IT and Data Strategy within the COO Office for GRM, as well as engage in important data and IT components of the Project Emerald Integration, such as historical data and testing. The support this student will provide is invaluable to the organization as enhancing GRM’s IT and Data Strategy is part of which supports the 2024 GRM priorities. As well, Project Emerald is the largest merger RBC has ever been apart of.
