The Tech & Data Internship Program was developed for undergraduate students who are highly analytical, interested in business issues and curious about career opportunities in technology and data within the finance industry The program provides you access to a virtual classroom and on the job training where you will learn how to leverage your problem solving and technical skills to help make critical business decisions. You will be assigned both a manager and a mentor to help support your learnings from the classroom to apply in the workplace setting.

 

The program begins with a week-long Intern Orientation session for you to engage with fellow interns and learn about the programs available to you. You will advance your knowledge and expertise through skills-based training and on-the-job assignments. You will participate in additional programming such as our Speaker Series where each session focuses on a different aspect of our culture including employee resource groups, inclusion, and diversity and much more. What’s in It for Me?

 

You will join us as an Intern for the Winter of 2023 in the Technology & Data Department for a 4-month or 8-month internship based on your availability. Upon completion of your term, you will be considered for a fulltime role.

 

There are two streams that you can consider for placement. The Junior Engineer stream or the Analyst stream. During the recruitment process, you may indicate your preferred stream during the application process.

 

As a Junior Software Engineer or Junior Data Engineer, you will assist the team in:

• Designing, coding, testing, delivering, and supporting systems, applications, or solutions to meet the evolving needs of business teams following an Agile delivery approach.

• You’ll also have the opportunity to learn and apply Java, Python, Angular, AWS and low code code/no code solutions.

• You can consider the following teams:

• Software Engineering: business aligned engineering teams that build systems and applications for front and back-office teams.

• Data Engineering: are known as the institutional subject matter experts. The team is the center of data, technology, and business, assisting teams across the fund with data stacks, proof of concepts, logic, and analytics work bench.

 

As an Analyst, you will assist the teams in the following ways:

• Information Security / Risk Analyst: assisting and managing security/risk incidents, including performing security event monitoring, analysis, and incident response. Learn from your team who act as consultants to the fund and are known as subject matter experts on all things related to security. They ensure that the technology we use across the fund is secure.

• Data Analyst: source data vendors for the right product/service offering for our business partners. Involves unstructured and structured searches within the framework of our scouting processes and communicating with new/existing networks of vendor partners to look for the right solution.

• Business Analyst: take part in requirements gathering sessions to create systems specifications that meet business requirements.
