Strategy, Performance & Data Governance
This opportunity provide operational oversight of the IT expense budget lifecycle which will include: monthly reconciliation of SAP actuals vs budget for the current year budget, workflow approvals for spend requests, and forecasting impact of new spend/projects on future year expense budgets. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, comfortable with deadlines and enjoys spreadsheets and numbers.
External Reporting
The student will assist in the timely delivery of Cenovus’s external financial documents and legal entity financial statements. The role involves supporting various financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards. The successful candidate will be proactive, have strong attention to detail skills and be an effective collaborator.
Canadian Refined Products Finance
The student will assist with consigned inventory reconciliations, variance analysis, journal entries, and financial reporting while collaborating with various internal and external teams. The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of financial processes, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and journal entries. They should be detail-oriented and capable of identifying discrepancies in financial data.
Refining & Marketing Accounting
This student position will assist in recording financial transactions, analyzing financial results, and providing qualitative explanations for operations and financial performance. The role involves collaborating with business operations to support financial reporting, variance analysis, and budgeting. The student will gain exposure to financial systems, reporting processes, and operational risk management while working alongside experienced finance professionals.
Commercial & Development Pipelines & Terminals (HMGP)
The Student with Commercial & Development team at Husky Midstream will assist in financial analysis, business case development, and economic modeling to support commercial initiatives. The role involves working closely with Commercial & Development Advisors to prepare presentations, budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.

What you’ll do
Strategy, Performance & Data Governance
- Reconcile monthly SAP actuals against budget to ensure financial accuracy.
- Review and approve workflow requests for IT-related expenses and project spending.
- Forecast financial impact of new IT initiatives on future budgets.
- Maintain data integrity and accuracy within financial reporting systems.
External Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of external and legal entity financial documents for regulatory bodies and other stakeholders.
- Support data validation and accuracy in compliance with financial reporting standards.
- Collaborate with internal reporting teams to ensure alignment of internal reports with external and legal entity disclosures.
Canadian Refined Products Finance
- Perform consigned inventory reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Analyze financial variances and record journal entries to maintain accurate financial data.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to support financial reporting and operational improvements.
Refining & Marketing Accounting
- Record and analyze financial transactions related to refining and marketing operations.
- Prepare variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
- Support financial reporting processes, budgeting, and operational risk management.
Commercial & Development Pipelines & Terminals
- Assist in developing and maintaining financial models for pipeline and terminal projects.
- Support the preparation of business cases, economic analyses, and financial forecasts.
- Work closely with Commercial & Development Advisors to analyze market data and investment opportunities.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
- Available to begin work in September 2025.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Solid analytical and Microsoft Suite skills, specifically Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal, judgement, and decision-making skills.

Education
- Must be enrolled in a Business Undergraduate Program (Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Marketing areas preferred) at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
- Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
- New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
