Introduction to Schneider Electric in Victoria, BC

Schneider Electric is excited to offer a 4 or 8 month co-op opportunity to join our team in Victoria, BC Canada. In this role, you will contribute in building the next generation of our Advanced Power Metering products such as the ION9000 and PM8000. Our team’s flagship product, the ION9000, won the 2021 Engineers’ Choice award! Our Power meters are installed around the world and help organizations measure carbon emissions, reduce their energy consumption, and increase power reliability. What will you do?

The Embedded DevOps Co-op student will have an opportunity to work with a supportive group of developers, testers, and professional engineers. They will be part of our engineering team and will support the maintenance and expansion of our DevOps pipelines and systems. This position is a chance to challenge yourself and explore applying and expanding DevOps concepts and tools to the embedded system and product space. The student will work with our team in an agile environment, performing activities ranging from system and toolchain updates, to debugging and diagnosing build and automation issues, to researching, designing, and implementing enhancements and optimizations to our systems. Examples of day-to-day activities include:

  • Working with team members to identify system needs and create system designs
  • Collaborating and coordinating update and migration plans across development and production environments.
  • Reviewing build, automation, and deployment issues and recommending and implementing changes.
  • Identifying system and tool improvement opportunities and investigating / prototyping their feasibility.

In addition to the DevOps focus, there is also an opportunity to contribute to the development and testing of power metering products.

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Currently working towards a degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or relevant experience.
  • Experience installing and configuring Linux and Windows systems.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Coding and debugging experience. Python experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with virtual machines (local or cloud), is helpful but not required.

  • The base pay compensation for this full-time position is starting at CAD20.00 per hour for candidates who are B.C. residents.
