Position Highlights

As a Summer Intern, you will be responsible for aiding on all credit-related activities including monitoring industry trends, tracking financial performance and compliance for our clients, drafting internal credit presentations, client presentations and pitches, performing due diligence and negotiating documentation.

 

The Summer Intern will work closely with the Corporate Banking Analysts, Associates and Associate Directors to support the Directors and Managing Directors in managing client relationships across various industries in the Province of Québec. The Summer Intern will also interact with product partners across Global Banking and Markets, including investment bankers and traders, to support our clients’ needs across the full suite of products and services Scotiabank can offer.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide day to day account management support
  • Structure, analyze and perform due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity
  • Assists in the management of loan portfolio including quarterly and annual credit reviews, coordination of account management with team members and Global Risk Management, amendments and structuring of credit facilities
  • Assess credit requirements of existing and prospective clients; assist in the preparation of client marketing pitches and other presentations
  • Ensure credit files, agreements and security documents are complete and up to date
  • Monitor and follow client compliance reporting requirements
  • Develop recommendations for the appropriate course of action
  • Research credit and bank product requirements of existing and prospective clients
  • Coordinate with various product groups within GBM
  • Expand industry and product knowledge by developing and maintaining relationships with clients, other lenders, legal counsel, and internal product specialists

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • In the process of completing BComm/MBA/CFA designation
  • Corporate Banking or appropriate financial experience an asset
  • Fluent in written and spoken French and English
  • Self-motivated, results-focused, team player with strong learning ability and drive
  • Strong sense of professionalism in all client interaction
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills with concise rationale supporting recommendations and actions
  • High attention to detail with a sense of urgency appropriate to the situation
  • Strong time management skills and driven to achieve timelines and goals
  • Promotes cooperation, teamwork, and professional internal relationships
  • Financial modelling skills and accounting knowledge
  • Strong organizational and computer skills including the use of MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

 

Work Arrangement:

This position is currently a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work 4 days a week (minimum) in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
