Job Summary

Responsible to assist with day-to-day duties of the administration of the City’s Corporate Policies and Procedures Program and develop and implement training and associated job aids that will assist municipal staff to understand processes and obligations related to Corporate Policies and Procedures. This is an end-to-end learning opportunity that will involve content design and development, user experience design, technical development and testing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to assist supervisor/ manager with day-to-day duties.
  • May support the development and implementation of policies and programs and may assist in the preparation of informative materials for use by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with the Corporate Policy Team to identify learning objectives
  • Collaborating with the Corporate Policy Team to identify and select appropriate online learning content
  • Designing and developing storyboards
  • Creating and organizing course materials, incorporating interactive and multimedia elements as appropriate (may involve creation of illustrations, graphics, etc.)
  • Designing and implementing the “user experience” including navigation, layout and overall design, incorporating corporate identity and visual standards as appropriate
  • Technical development, including use of course development software, testing and quality assurance
  • Designing and implementing assessments and evaluations to measure course effectiveness

Skills and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at University in a job-related program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of municipal government, including the role of Council and municipal relationship with the regional, provincial and federal levels of government.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Strong planning, project management and time management skills
  • Strong instructional design skills
  • Strong multimedia and technical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Confidence, and ability to proactively “find answers and solutions” when questions and challenges arise
  • Light lifting of supplies. Exposure to computer screens.
  • Primarily office environment

Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.22 – 22.84
