Scope
The Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering intern will be working on custom robotics and automation, machine vision, and other advanced manufacturing technologies, including both custom design and development, and working with suppliers where candidate solutions already exist. This role will be part of a team that is responsible for identifying opportunities to improve the quality, throughput, and cost of our cell and stack manufacturing, and developing and deploying solutions.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the design, development, improvement, installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment and subsystems for automation in fuel cell manufacturing, assembly, quality control, and inspection processes
- Support the implement integrated solutions with work ranging from early-stage equipment and technical specification through implementation and hand-off to the production team
- Collaborate with the development of automated manufacturing, QC, and testing equipment programming in various coding environments
- Participate in the development layouts and solutions that follow lean manufacturing philosophies and kanban, with emphasis on continuous improvements
- Participate in the required documentation for test and automation equipment, including any maintenance schedule, spare equipment, and work instructions required during manufacturing.
- Contribute to the realize designs, including procurement, assembly, coding, testing, and commissioning activities as required
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Manufacturing or Mechanical areas preferred)
- Excellent mechanical design and hands-on experience
- Technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- A self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment
- 3D CAD software experience, SolidWorks environment preferred
- Excellent attention to detail
- Be flexible and results-oriented with strong organizational
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
