Minimum Requirements:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate Mechanical or Materials Engineering program at an accredited post-secondary institution
- You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term
- Please attach your most recent transcripts with your application
- Strong computer skills including familiarity with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Responsibilities:
- Develop a familiarity with various types of mechanical equipment within Suncor’s operations, and the codes and standards which govern their design and operation, including: piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, fired heaters, pumps, compressors, material handling equipment, and mining equipment
- Develop tools for tracking reliability, inspection and operating information
- Support engineering and maintenance teams in responding to day to day operational issues, and development repair scopes and work plans for repair or modification of equipment
- Provide technical support to capital projects and maintenance engineering through the design and execution phases, including producing and reviewing engineering deliverables, construction support.
- Support creation and update of engineering documents such as drawings, datasheets, technical specifications and standards.
- Support field inspection activities
- Prepare and present summary reports, performance metrics reports, graphical representation, data analysis and presentations, as required
- Understand and apply Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and troubleshooting methods to resolve operating equipment challenges
Location and other Key Details:
- This is a 4, 8, 12 or 16-month work term starting in September 2024. You will be asked to indicate your availability in your application
- Potential locations include Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray (Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo), or our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway
- Relocation assistance will be provided if required
