The Internship program is designed for passionate individuals who embrace engineering and have a willingness to learn from a Professional Engineer. You will have the opportunity to grow technically, professionally, and personally through their experience working closely with their Manager, Mentor, and team. We are dedicated to providing an experience that allows the intern to experience life at Lawgic Engineering by including them in projects that are critical to their team’s success. Lawgic Engineering can also provide vital experience to those pursuing their PEO license.
THE OPPORTUNITY
• Gain value knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, fire protection services within the built environment
• Conduct insightful visual inspections of various mechanical and electrical building systems
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for complex buildings
• Perform engineering analysis and modeling including whole building load calculations and duct sizing, lighting design, electrical load calculations and more.
• Model mechanical pipework, ductwork, and plant with AutoCAD, and carry out engineering calculations and analysis
• Write reports documenting calculation methods and results, design assumptions, and other technical information
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE:
• Completed or pursuing a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Sciences or another related engineering discipline
• Interest in the building service built industry
• Strong time management skills and self motivated
• Ability to work under pressure and meet hard deadlines
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
• Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
• Comfortable with traveling and working on a ladder to conduct site surveys
• Have a valid driver’s license and access to vehicle for job site visits
• Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
PREFERRED ASSETS FOR THE ROLE
• Ability to read and evaluate a drawing floor plan
• Fundamental electrical system knowledge
• Familiar with AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Microsoft Excel and Word software
• Interest in mechanical and electrical building service design
• Past internship experience in engineering firm
We ask for a minimum of 2 days per week at 8 hours per day of remote work or on-site work. Please accurately state your availability when applying.
